Dr. Rekha Banka was earlier passionate for selfless social service to enhance Human Welfare . In 1994, She came in contact with Shri N.L Kumar, Founder & Chairman of Age Care India (ACI) while passing through his office. She worked with ACI about 10 years for the welfare of poor Elderly Persons and rendered her services while simultaneously performing her duty as Lecturer in Directorate of Education. She is recipient of a series of Awards – State Award, Dr. Radha Krishnan National Award in1995, Millennium – World Green Award 2000. She has also represented India under SAARC- Japan Special Fund at Colombo, Sri Lanka in April 2002. She was recipient of Lion’s Excellence Award in Education field in Sept.2010.
Late (Sh N.L.Kumar Founder & Executive Director was a very Dynamic Personality. He was President Emeritus of ACI, Managing Trustee of Senior Citizen Foundation and also Life Trustee of Global Cancer Concern India.
In 2004 Dr. Rekha Banka shared her dream with Shri N.L Kumar about working for the upliftment of poor Women and Children especially in the areas of Education and Culture. Sh.N.L Kumar offered her “OPCAR FOUNDATION” (Registered in 1988) which was lying only in files for last 16 years because out of 7 Board of Trustees 6 had expired. The only living Trustee Shri N.L Kumar asked her to revive this Dormant Foundation by including 6-7 new Trustees to start functioning and appointed her as ‘ Founder Chairperson & Director’ of Opcar Foundation. Dr. Rekha Banka accepted the challenge and with all her will Power and Support. She appointed the Board Members, Life Trustees and initiated the working and activities of the Foundation. She continued the work with full zeal through her judicious Planning and Administrative Acumen Today.
