About Us

The Organization

OPCAR FOUNDATION is a Non-Political, Non-Profit Charitable Foundation for Integrated Welfare of the Society. It was registered on 23.9.1988 vide Registration No. 5887, under the Indian Trust Act. It is supported by 40 Trustees,286 Associate Members, and 160 Volunteers. The Foundation supports underprivileged Children and Women. The basic objective of the Foundation is to help and look after the Welfare of Orphans, Needy Children, Youth, Widows, and aged people of the economically Weaker Section. Lots of hard work is done to accelerate efforts for the upliftment of Females. The Foundation’s aim is to provide Meritorious Scholarship to poor and deserving Children of Schools / Colleges of Delhi and outside. The Foundation also provides financial support to destitute Females, Physically and visually impaired Persons.

Inception of the Organization

Dr. Rekha Banka was earlier passionate for selfless social service to enhance Human Welfare . In 1994, She came in contact with Shri N.L Kumar, Founder & Chairman of Age Care India (ACI) while passing through his office. She worked with ACI about 10 years for the welfare of poor Elderly Persons and rendered her services while simultaneously performing her duty as Lecturer in Directorate of Education. She is recipient of a series of Awards – State Award, Dr. Radha Krishnan National Award in1995, Millennium – World Green Award 2000. She has also represented India under SAARC- Japan Special Fund at Colombo, Sri Lanka in April 2002. She was recipient of Lion’s Excellence Award in Education field in Sept.2010.

Late (Sh N.L.Kumar Founder & Executive Director was  a very Dynamic Personality. He was President Emeritus of ACI, Managing Trustee of Senior Citizen Foundation and also Life Trustee of Global Cancer Concern India.

In 2004 Dr. Rekha Banka shared her dream with Shri N.L Kumar about working for the upliftment of poor Women and Children especially in the areas of Education and Culture. Sh.N.L Kumar offered her “OPCAR FOUNDATION” (Registered in 1988) which was lying only in files for last 16 years because out of 7 Board of Trustees 6 had expired. The only living Trustee Shri N.L Kumar asked her to revive this Dormant Foundation by including 6-7 new Trustees to start functioning and appointed her as ‘ Founder Chairperson & Director’ of Opcar Foundation. Dr. Rekha Banka accepted the challenge and with all her will Power and Support. She appointed the Board Members, Life Trustees and initiated the working and activities of the Foundation. She continued the work with full zeal through her judicious Planning and Administrative Acumen Today.

Objectives

OPCAR FOUNDATION is a Charitable Organization which helps underprivileged Children & destitute Females. The basic objective of the NGO is to support and look after the welfare of Orphans, Needy Children, Youth, Widows and Elderly Persons of Economically Weaker Sections. Lot of hard work is done to accelerate Efforts for Upliftment of Females.

Main Objectives of the Foundation are to -

  • Provide Meritorious scholarships to poor and deserving students of various Schools and Colleges.
  • Promote welfare of children, youth, women and the aged people of Economically Weaker Sections.
  • Organizing Summer Camp and Creativity Centre for underprivileged Children for Art -Craft & English speaking courses. Celebrations of special Days for these Children.
  • Activities for Children/ Talent search Programmes – Poster Slogan Contest & Cultural Events, Encouragement to Young Artists.
  • Organize free health Check-up Camps/Nature Cure Centre.
  • Survey of Poor and Needy Persons.
  • Accelerate Efforts for Upliftment of Females.
  • Assisting to provide monthly Pension to Widows, Handicapped & Elderly Persons.
  • Induction of Associate Members, Volunteers & Advisors.
  • Meetings, Get-together, Excursions, Seminars ,Webinars & organizing OPCAR Mela for beneficiaries
  • Issue of OPCAR Foundation Identity Cards & Badges to Members and Volunteers
  • Celebration of Annual Function in every September / October to disburse Scholarships and release of Souvenir.
  • OPCAR Foundation branches are working in Punjab (Bathinda), Mumbai, Jaipur, Faridabad, Gurgaon, Noida to take care of Regional Activities.
  • Planning to provide Hostels for Widows, Working Women and Orphans
  • Arrange Low Budget Shelter Homes for destitute Females and Senior Citizens.
  • Activities in Collaboration with other Organization especially for the Welfare of Impaired Persons.
  • Special aid to the victims of Natural Calamities & Medical Cases.
